Sones Cellars focuses on Petite Sirah and Zinfandel because we believe that these varietals flourish locally and produce distinctively Californian wines. Both have been grown in California since the late 1800s, have survived prohibition, phyloxera and trends in popularity, and more of both are grown in California than in any other part of the world. This year, we have added La Sirena, a white wine blend of Viognier, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as introducing a new Zinfandel and a Syrah from Wiedeman Vineyard in the south of Santa Clara County. We will continue to maintain our focus on Petite Sirah, a varietal we love and believe to be under-appreciated in California, and on Zin, because we love it, too!
We've recently released our new Monterey County Petite Sirah and our second vintage of Wiedeman Vineyard Zinfandel - the first vintage disappeared in a flash! Watch for our 2007 La Sirena White Wine Blend to be released in May 2008. We'll put it up on this page as soon as it's ready to go.

| 2005 Zinfandel, Wiedeman Vineyard, Santa Clara County This is the second Sones Zinfandel from Wiedeman Vineyard, and we continue to love the rich, full-bodied flavors and good balance of the wine from this superb small vineyard in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It has lush aromas of ripe berries and vanilla, along with rich, full flavors of sweet cherry pie and white pepper. 125 cases produced. |
